Soprano, Simone Caruso has been doing the work which makes compelling musical voices like hers grab and hold people’s attention. She started taking private voice lessons when she was six years old and has been studying, performing and teaching music ever since. Her classical music training led her to become part of the Hamilton Children’s choir for five years, where she competed in many national and international competitions.
Landing key roles in the musicals including Songs for a New World, Lucky Stiff, Heart of Broadway, Broadway Couples, Broadway Titians, Jekyll and Hyde, Stage to Screen and Annie has helped to develop Simone’s ability to sing many different styles of music.
In the start of her career, Simone received many first place honours in competitions such as the Kiwanis Festival, Hamilton Teen Idol and the St. Anthony’s Festival. In 2009, Simone won the Ontario Youth Talent Search and went on to compete at the National level in Prince Edward Island.
In 2015, Simone collaborated with world renowned composer, conductor and arranger Charles Cozens to produce her debut album Only Love which was released November 2017. Only Love is a crossover classical album like that of Andrea Boccelli, Josh Groban etc. including songs such as The Face, Caruso, It Must Have been Love and also original compositions.
After recording her debut album, Simone performed with Quartteto Gelato at the closing gala of the Niagara Music Festival and has also performed with the Brantford Symphony Orchestra and the Burlington New Millenium Orchestra.
In 2012, Simone started her own private music studio, where she shares her knowledge of voice and piano with students of all ages ranging from young children to adults. She helps her students prepare for RCM exams, musical auditions, and performances. In 2011 she became the vocal coach and director of the Cathedral High School Glee Club in Hamilton. CHS Glee has competed at Show Choir Canada three years in a row and has walked away twice with first place in all three categories.
Simone holds a Grade 10 RCM certificate in Voice and a Grade 8 RCM certificate in piano. She also graduated with a BA Honours in Sociology from McMaster University.
